Two Arrests Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault near the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals injured by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
