Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a hostile location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The healer defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the family.

This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.

Audiences can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
